Cheesecake was a term commonly used by soldiers to describe a genre of photography and posters made popular during the war time as pin up was considered Taboo!
These cheesecake style snapshots featured beautiful women who would be modestly posed showing little explicit nudity, but still incredibly alluring. It may have generated when in 1912 James Lane (a fashion photographer) exclaimed 'Wow that's better than Cheesecake' after a quick breeze caught a young lady's dress showing a little more leg than usual.
